- I have other members that are harassing and abusing me, what can I do?
Either email us direct at shed@4wdaction.com.au or visit that member’s page by clicking on their “user id” and you will see a “Report Abuse” button on their page, click that button and fill out the details. We will not tolerate
abuse and will deal with it in the most efficient way possible in order to keep the community hassle
free for your enjoyment.
User/Account Information
- How do I log in?
First you need to register with the Shed site,
wait for the confirmation email and activate your account by following the link in your email. Next, log in with
your username and password in the login boxes beneath the site banner available on every page.
Once you have
logged in, these login boxes will be replaced by a welcome message and links to your account administration pages.

Important: you cannot login with your forum account unless you've created an account with the same details in the Shed. It's important to remember that the Shed and the forum are not connected in any way. While you can use the same username and password for both, changing your password in one will not change it in the other and having a forum account does not automatically give you a Shed account.
- I didn't get my activation email, what now?
First, did you check your spam/junk mail? If you don't receive your activation email within two hours, send us a quick email at shed@4wdaction.com.au with your username and we'll activate your account for you manually.
- What happens if I have forgotten my username/password?
Just use our Forgot Login Details form and remember to enter the email address you used when you first signed up. Check your spam/junk mail also to see if it's in there and if you don't receive it within the hour just send us an email at shed@4wdaction.com.au and we'll email you back.
- How do I change my personal information?
You may change your personal information at any time once you've logged in on your User Details page. The only information you cannot change is your username.
- How do I upload my own Avatar/Personal Image/Logo?
You may upload your own avatar once your account has been activated. Log in and browse to your User Details page. Towards the bottom you will see a button that allows you to browse your computer for an image. You may only use jpgs or gif images and there is a file size limit of 80kbs. All images are resized to fit into a 120x90px space so if you don't want yours to look strange, make sure your avatar is roughly that size or ratio.
- What if I don't want to use my own Avatar/Personal Image/Logo any more?
If you don't wish to use your own avatar, you agree to use our default image by selecting the "use default avatar" checkbox on your User Details page.
- How do I cancel my account?
Delete your vehicle galleries (this will remove all your images and vehicle information permanently). Even without a gallery you will still receive emails and promotional material from us as per your user agreement so if you wish to delete your user account completely, send us an email at shed@4wdaction.com.au with your username from the same email address used to register for the site (to identify you as the genuine account holder) and request that your account be deleted from the database.
- How do I receive notification emails when a user comments on my Shed?
To receive emails whenever a user comments on your Shed, go to you User Details page and scroll down to the "Notifications" section. Select the checkbox to turn your email notifications on/off.
- How do I turn off notification emails?
Exactly the same way you turned them on. Select the checkbox in the "Notifications" section of your User Details page.
Content
- What content is allowed on the website? Is nudity or anything explicit allowed?
No anything that IS offensive or pornographic in any sense must be reported immediately and we thank you in advance for doing so, content must relate to any type of vehicle of your choice or the industry as a whole. Should you come across any inappropriate material please report this immediately by using the “Report Abuse” function on top of the offending page.
- How do I add my vehicle?
Once you have registered for an account and verified your email address, you may log in and access your account via the links up the top (where the login panel was).

The link "Your Shed Admin" allows you to see an overview of your account including your vehicles. Add your vehicle by selecting "add a vehicle" on the top right. If you cannot see it make sure it says you have space left. There is a limit to the number of cars you may display with us.
- How do I remove my vehicle?
On Your Shed Admin page, there is a link beneath the item title that allows you "Delete Gallery". Use this link to go to a page that checks if you are sure you want to delete. Select "Yes I am Sure" to complete the deletion process. If you cannot the link, make sure you have a vehicle entered in the system.
- How many vehicle can I add?
On Your Shed Admin page, it will tell you on the top right how many galleries you have left. For example "You have used 0 vehicle galleries out of a possible 10". This limit is subject to change at any time.

- How do I make changes to my vehicle information?
For each vehicle on your Shed page, there is a link beneath the title: "info and mods" which allows you to change the specific attributes of each vehicle. You cannot however change your make and model, to do so you'd need to delete your vehicle and start from scratch.
- How do I add my images/links/video?
Once you have created your vehicle, the page will usually take you straight to the add images page where you may upload images from your computer or Photobucket.
On Your Shed page, there is a dropdown menu that allows you "Add Images" Use this link to add images via either uploading from your computer or linking from Photobucket. Remember, big images will slow your page so try to optimise your media before adding to your gallery.
There is also the options to "Add Links" or "Add Video" Use these link to add links to external pages or files and also to add links to YouTube or Photobucket video.

- I tried uploading images but nothing turns up!
We don’t approve images before they appear, they should appear immediately so if yours don't, here are a couple of things to try first:
- Log out and log back in (may sound simple but sometimes it works)
- Do not go to the upload images page until you’re ready to upload your images
- Upload one image at a time
- Make sure the image is a jpeg, is less than 190kbs and doesn't contain any characters, it should only have letters, numbers and underscores in the filename.
If the above doesn’t work you can always go the Photobucket route:
- Create an account on Photobucket website (with whom we are not affiliated): http://photobucket.com/register.php
- Upload your images to your Photobucket account using their upload form.
important: at this stage if your images still do not upload even to the Photobucket website then there’s probably a problem with your computer. You may need to update your browser (we recommend IE7 or Firefox 2), clear your browser cache, try another computer or even try getting a proffesional to come check it out.
- Once your images are uploaded onto Photobucket, link to them in your Shed by going to the “add images” page. At the very bottom there’s a section titled “Link to Your Photobucket Images”. In the field, enter the HTML code that Photobucket gives you:
Put:

Into:

Once that’s done it should appear on your Shed. Please note: you need to keep your links updated on the Shed for example if you move your pictures into another gallery you will need to update the link. We do not have control over the images in Photobucket, if the Photobucket site goes down you will not be able to view your images on the Shed.
- How do I remove my images/links/video?
On Your Shed page, there is a delete dropdown menu beneath each title that allows you to delete whichever media you wish to delete. Use these link to go to pages that allow you to delete your either all your media or individual media using checkboxes. Both processes are irreversible. If you cannot see the links, make sure you have images uploaded for that item.

- My images look squashed/funny, why is this happening?
All images uploaded are resized to conform with our template, so to give the best impression, make sure your images are in a ratio of 3x4.
- How do i resize my images so that they are suitable for uploading?
You will need to use an image editing program to reduce your file size to below 190kbs or resize your image into a 3x4 ratio. Example free software includes:
VSO Image Resizer - create e-mail friendly versions of your images, change their format, edit large numbers of image files or batch image resize
Irfanview - This program will enable you to resize and crop (reshape) images quickly and easily.
Picnik - quickly edit all your online photos from one place, fix underexposed photos, remove red-eye, or apply effects to your photos.
Alternatively if you are thinking of buying software ‘Adobe Photoshop Elements‘ is a good quality program that is reasonably priced.
- I deleted an image by accident, how do I get it back?
You can't. Once you've deleted your image it's gone forever.
- How do I link to my Shed on the forum/a website of mine?
Add your Shed to your forum sig or share a Shed on the 4WD Action Forum with the copy and paste links found at the bottom of each Shed.
New Rides and Recently Updated
- Will my car show up on the homepage every time I update my page or add a new car?
In short yes it will, there is a “Recently Updated Rides” section on the homepage and every time you make a change to your vehicle information your ride will be put to the top of the list. The same goes for new vehicles which are displayed in the "New Rides" section as soon as you add a new vehicle and add images to your new vehicle - new vehicles will not display on the homepage if there are no images for people to view (so make sure you add your images at the same time as you create a new vehicle)
- How is the Most Viewed panel worked out?
Every time a user visits your page, the number of page views is incremented. However if for example the same page is viewed twice by the same user during the same session we do not count that as a second viewing and therefore your page views are not incremented. This stops page views from being misused and provides a more accurate picture of which Shed is being checked out the most.
Ratings and Comments
- How does the rating system work and who determines who is most and least rated?
A person's rating is determined by the rating they were given as a percentage of what they may have potentially received i.e. is a person has received two votes of 4 and one vote of 7 which totals to 15 but they could have potentially received 10/10 so the ratio becomes 15/30 which translated to a final rating of 50%. The ratings that each car receives is totally up to you and your fellow registered members but we ask that you keep it fair and unbiased. Each member has the ability to rate and comment on each vehicle if they are logged in to do so, so if you are not registered go to the registration page and do so now so you can have the power!
- What is the Best Rated Vehicle?
The best rated vehicle has the highest ratio of actual/potential votes and have been rated at least 10 times. Members who have received less votes are not taken into account. The home page features the first best rated and also lists the next 4. The ratings are determined entirely by the members so if you see unfair voting going on, go ahead and have your say too. Members with ratings turned off will not appear on the best rated list.
- Can I disallow ratings for my vehicle?
In short, yes you can! Simple go to your admin page, in the ratings dropdown menu for each vehicle you will find the option to "turn ratings on/off".

If you do not allow users to rate your vehicle, please be aware that you will no longer appear on any ratings based lists for example the best rated section and your rating will not appear anywhere until you turn ratings back on. If you feel that you are being abused/harassed please use the "report abuse" page for your vehicle quoting your username and gallery title/URL and we will take a look at it for you:
- How do I reset my Ratings?
Have you done some upgrades to your 4WD? Have you put better photos up in your Shed? Or are you simply not happy with your current vehicle ratings? Well now we have the option to clear our ratings and start fresh. Users may reset their ratings for each Vehicle from their Shed Admin page:

In the ratings dropdown menu for each vehicle you will find the option to "reset ratings". You will be prompted to confirm your decision. If you reset your ratings, all ratings that have ever been given to your vehicle are deleted permanently.
- How do I edit my comments?
After the date on your comment is a link "edit your comment" which allows you to edit that comment.

Technical Errors
- Why does it say there is mysql error and how do I get rid of it?
At the Shed we are constantly updating the custom built code behind the website to improve the way the Shed works or introduce new features. Sometimes we may cause unforseen errors with the new code. Please email us at shed@4wdaction.com.au with the error details such as:
- the link to the error and what it says exactly,
- what was happening when the error occured,
- what browser and operating system you have
- and if possible a screenshot of the error occuring
We will do our best to help you out.
